My sympathies to you as well. I’m so sorry this is happening during the lockdown!

I have no answer for your question just that I personally do not see a problem. Don’t take my view as meaning much, though.

May you find peace and hope with your memories of your mother!

A Bobby pin would probably be better. Assuming you are wearing the mantilla indoors, the sunglasses would be out of place.

I’m so sorry about your mother. Regarding the sunglasses, there’s nothing wrong with wearing them over the mantilla. But you might find it more comfortable to fasten it to your hair with bobby pins —then you can take off/put on your sunglasses without disrupting your mantilla.

If you think the sunglasses will work best, that’s what you should do then. There’s certainly nothing wrong with it in terms of etiquette. Again, my sympathy.

Bobby pins can damage a delicate lace mantilla. If you’re going to be outdoors and in the bright sunlight, I see no problem with wearing sunglasses. People often wear them at funerals, anyway, for other reasons. Even indoors.

I don’t know if you commonly wear a mantilla, but in case you don’t, you might “practice” wearing it (especially outside). Because veils / mantillas are tricky if you’re not used to them. If you want to wear sunglasses over, under, or on top of the mantilla, I can’t imagine a problem.
Prayers for you in this difficult time. That would be terrible to go through this in this pandemic time.
