If you think that piece of bread is your god,you have some serious sacrilege to confess.
 
if I believe Jesus lied when he blessed bread and said “this is My Body” I have some serious issues I need to resolve

if I reject his power to give himself in the forms of bread and wine, I also reject his passion, death and resurrection, and cannot call myself Christian
 
Umm… I don’t think “sacrelige” is the word you want ot use here. 🤷

Am I the only one who is a bit surprised to see someone whose profile says (at the moment) “Religion: CATHOLIC” refer to the Eucharist as “that piece of bread”?

Yes, I believe that the Eucharist is my God. Please have respect for the Catholic religion which you are obviously not really a part of.

You need to read Holy Scripture my friend:
John 6:33 For the bread of God is that which cometh down from heaven and giveth life to the world.
John 6:35 And Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life.

The whole “piece of bread is your god” thing may seem funny to you. But God might very well be thinking that you are being completely ignorant. Even if I was like you, one that laughed at the Eucharist, I’d least do some research to see why 2,000 years of Christian tradition has always believed the whole “piece of bread is your god” thing is 100% loyal to Christ.

Technically the OP is right (although not in the way they meant). If you believe that a piece of bread is God, then you are definitely misguided. Wonderbread, Whole Wheat, White Bread, Potato Bread, they are all false gods. The bakery aisle at the Piggly Wiggly is not to be used as a Cathedral!😃

On the other hand, I do believe that the transsubstantiated wafer is Christ, and I’ll go to my grave believing that!🙂
 
It’s a bit bizarre. Why would God want to turn himself into bread? It reminds me of Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum I smell the blood of an Englishman. Be him alive or be him dead and I’ll grind his bones to make my bread. Not me - Christ. However the transubstantiation is in the Gospel. I think Christ wanted to get inside us and make love to us. He decided to go in through the mouth as he couldn’t compromise celibacy or marriage. But would anyone want to eat something that looked like human flesh? The Eucharist is a compromise.

I’ve yet to see someone who actually thinks that loaves of bread (say, something like white bread, croissants, foccacia, or buns) are deities. Believing them to be gods would be tantamount to blasphemy, yes.

But fortunately, I don’t know of any person who, upon toasting a loaf and spreading butter on it for breakfast, will kneel and make prostrations before it and offer it incense, all the while saying “Hail thou loaf of bread who hast created all things from a lump of dough.” 😃

But we do believe that our God is so omnipotent that He is able to do any “trivial” (from His POV) stuff such as creating ex nihilo or being present under the appearance of bread and wine, if He so wishes.

I think we are being a bit naive here to assume otherwise. The Bible clearly states that “I am the bread of life” and “Unless you eat my body and drink my blood you can have no part in me”. These quotations are from John’ Gospel Chap 6.

To buttress my argument further proponents of Black Mass (Satan Worship) regularly steal consecrated host from the Catholic Church ONLY. Even they know where the real presence of Christ is. Remember just after the crucifixion the Jews went to Pilate to ensure the grave was sealed completely and guards posted so no one could steal the body of Jesus and claim he had risen. They in fact told Pilate “this scoundrel claimed he would rise after 3 days”. It was surprising that the Jews believed in his resurrection and not his own disciples. This is exactly the case here with the bread. Satan worshippers believe it is the body of Christ but Christians denounce it as sacrilegious!!!

Who’s a troll? You said that on my link “The Immaculate Heart of Mary is a heresy”. Yes, why on Earth would Christ want to turn himself into bread and wine? We didn’t invent mass. Christ invented it. This is the way God demands to be worshipped. It’s not something that the Catholic Church made up. Jesus at the Last Supper says “Do this in memory of me.”
