Is Confession necessary before a convalidation?

If a couple has an invalid marriage, unknown or known are:

1. They living in any kind of sin?
2. Do they require confession after con-validation or an annulment?

Hi,

If they have an invalid marriage, then whenever they have sexual relations they are comitting a mortal sin. So yes, they will need to go to Confession before the convalidation (blessing of the marriage). If, however, they live without having sexual relations until the annulment and convalidation, they may go to Confession and receive Holy Communion immediately.
