Hi,

I v’e been in search for an answer to a dilemma which has recently arisen do to health concerns. Being a devout Catholic, I want to be in union with ALL of the churches teaching. So here is the question:

I have recently been diagnosed with cancer and will have to under go a type of radiation therapy. The doctors recommend using birth control for a period of eight months after therapy because of an increased chance of birth defects. What is the Churches position on the use of birth control under such circumstances?

thank you.

Michelangelino,

These links should be helpful for explaining your moral options for avoiding pregnancy while you get rid of that cancer. I also included a link to our Prayer Intentions board so that you can ask others to pray for you. If you have any further questions or concerns that are not answered by these links, please contact Catholic Answers directly.
