I believe St. Francis of Assisi, in “The Flowers of St. Francis” book, cursed a brother, saying he’d never stay in the order–he didn’t.
I heard on “Classical Destinations” with Simon Callow, that the pope at the time put a curse on those rich parents who dropped their kids off at the orphanage where Vivaldi was teaching orphans to play the violin to get free lessons from him.
When they did, did they curse with “God willing” in mental parentheses?
BTW, I’m not thinking of cursing anyone. I’m just asking, because I though cursing was a mortal sin–and would be for St. Francis (who never would have and probably heard about curses) and that pope unless it was, in certain circumstances and under certain restrictions, possible.
