Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler,And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.

Isaiah 5:11
Woe to those who rise early in the morning that they may pursue strong drink,Who stay up late in the evening that wine may inflame them!

I
alcohol is healthy in small amounts… i did some research on those who live beyond age 110 and most of them drank small amoutns of alcohol on a regular basis. This one guy was 116 and drank beer every day since… he didn’t say when.

beer is pretty healthy with the hops and all… it has B vitamins in it… Red wine is probably best (resveratrol)… but this one 114 yr old woman said her secret to longevity was whiskey in her tea every day…

Whiskey in cappaccino (with honey and cream)is better 😃 )

Would God tell us to abstain from something that is healthy?

(Of course, i am not sure god wants us to live too long in this sinful world… The longer one lives, the more sins one commits… Hmm… maybe those vegetarians
are onto something… 😃 :hmmm: :coffeeread:

Wow that is so amazing. lol Very interesting as well. lol

Thanks for the very interesting facts.

Wow I am in shock to know that these people in their old age still are able to drink alcoholic beverages.

I guess maybe if I lived decades long through all the craziness in this world I would need a drink too. lol

Why? It doesn’t take much energy or effort to lift a glass to your lips… 😃

a decade??

hmmm… a day in this crazy world is too long for me.

I felt like getting inebriated (slightly:o ) last night because i couldn’t understand some things going on in my life… i resisted to temptation & ended up drinking just a few sips of beer. Actually it wasn’t even so much resisting temptation… that’s all i really felt like drinking for some strange reason… I guess i am far from being alcoholic… probably don’t even drink as much as i should to live to be 110… 😃

Hmmm… now that i think about it… Hey - What AM i thinking about?? Most of the time, I don’t even want to live another HOUR??? !!! :hypno: :ouch:

Hmmm… I’m confusing myself… and now i am beginning to want to get wasted again… 😃

:whacky:

I’ve seen a lot of “wise” replies in this thread from scriptural text. All worthy of commendation. Why not take the consumption of any alcohol one step further by not having the need to consume any of it at all. Like all the primitive passions concerning the lust’s of the five human senses of the flesh. St. John of the Cross and St. Theresa of Avila go into great detail concerning the mortification of ALL the human senses. Such a narrow road to trek is not wrought by human strength but by humble submission of God’s grace alone.
