I have an aged dog. I love her dearly but she is 14.5 and has suffered from congestive heart failure (and arthritis) for some time. I have been able to control it with medications but it seems to be getting out of control now. I know dogs/pets are not deemed to have souls so I think I have the answer to this question. Is it considered acceptable by the church to euthanize a pet when they are quite elderly and ill? It is certainly something I do not want to have to do but I see she is starting to suffer as a consequence of this illness and I do not want to see her do that either.
