that doesn’t justify calling others names.
A careful reading of many threads on the topic of Darwinism et al will demonstrate that many of its proponents are derisive of people who defend the integrity of the Bible wheras those who speak up for the Creation narrative tend to be a lot more respectful towards those they don’t agree with. I think its called 'Lets agree to disagree
Derisive. You mean like describing someone’s beliefs as a “fairy tale”?

I find it deeply ironic that you’re saying six-day creationists have a right to not be mocked when you’ve said.
scoffers and mockers ’
indoctrinated into evolutionism
undermined by this lie from hell
(if that’s not derisive to people that are accepting something the Church has said we can, I don’t know the meaning of the word)
scoffers and mockers
conform to their favourite fairy tale
Creation narrative tend to be a lot more respectful towards those they don’t agree with.
As a personal observation overall, most creationists on this forum do not have a lot of respect to those that accept evolution. Things like calling those that accept evolution indoctrinated, hell-inspired, or believers in fairy tales come to mind. The only notable exception I recall is Riccha. On the other hand most of those accepting evolution are willing to take a let’s agree to disagree approach. Take me for example, if you walk away from this thread still a creationist, that’s okay. But I will inform you when you imply that, contrary to the Church, evolution and faith aren’t compatible.

More like as being inconsistent . They are trying to restructure the plain speaking of scripture
to make it to conform to their favourite fairy tale
Plain speaking of scripture? This sounds like something I hear from fundamentalist protestant friends of mine.

I would find more in common with a fundamentalist protestant than with someone whose religion is darwinisn. At least their fervor is for the one True God who spoke the word - and it was done .

Then it’s not called “calling those who disagree with you scoffers and mockers.”
Where did I call you a scoffer and mocker ?
I am referring to previous threads on the topic and I noticed that there was a lot of negativity on the part of evolutionists towards those who disagreed with them. I haven’t noticed ad hominem attacks by those who rejected evolution .

I’m standing up for people who believe that God was fully capable of creating everything in six days as the Bible states. But those who wish to leave God out of the equation came up with the brilliant idea of everything creating itself out of nothing in eons of time.

You do understand that many who accept evolution believe it was designed and ordered by God, right?

And being dirisive toward others to shame them for being dirisive hardly makes sense. Nor is it charitable.

I was taught evolution in public school (Washington state), though I think creationism might have also been briefly referenced. And of course, after school I’d go over to CCD and learn about Adam and Eve. Generally in CCD we were told that what’s a 24 hour day to us wasn’t necessarily the same as what a day was to God when creating the universe. I never felt particularly troubled about the details of how we got here.

I don’t have a problem with evolution being taught in schools as long as they teach it as a theory and don’t tack on an agenda behind it that infringes on religion and asserts that there is no God. And as far as I know, public schools in America are not allowed to weigh in on that either way. I also think it’s respectful to acknowledge that creationism is a different point of view that exists, though in public schools in America one would not expect it to be taught extensively and as fact.

The vast majority if those that accept evolution on this forum are not only theists, but Catholic. We’re not exactly trying to disprove God.

As a general recommendation, for me, thomisticevolution.org was a fascinating read. I’d always known evolution and faith to be compatible, but the priests there in their essays really helped to see more clearly just how God could work through evolution to create us. A great read.
