When I was baptized as a Protestant, the intent, as far as I can remember, was not to do as the Church intends, but as a sign of my commitment to Christ. In that church, we did not believe that baptism did anything.
But when I became a Catholic, I was told that being baptized with the trinitarian formula was sufficient.
So now I’m confused - again. Intent matters only if the minister is LDS. It doesn’t matter if he is a normal Protestant.
