My father refuses to let me contact angels in any way I expressly made it clear I am not making them Lord to me or worshipping them I just want to fellowship talk to and if needed ask angels for help that are listed in the Holy Bible as angels.

If you have scriptures to back up what you’re saying that would help.

He has his masters in pastoral and theology so he’s ordained that kind of makes me fear that not listening to him is wrong.

In addition doesn’t the Bible say to obey parents John Macarthur said this

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right” ([Eph. 6:1] Paul now turns to the second relationship in the ancient home, that of parents and children. The Greek word Tekna (children) is a general term for children and is not limited to a specific age group. It refers to any child still living in the home and under parental guidance. The present tense of the imperative hupakouete ( be obedient ) demands a continuous obedience.

This makes me feel like I have to do everything my dad says unless it’s sinful but he is extremely restrictive even saying I can’t be Catholic but must be Christian.

When you’re an adult you do not have to obey your parents. You decide what denomination you want to be, you decide if you want to ask angels to help you.

You definitely don’t have to do everything he says.

I am non denominational. I am really hopeful that I will find what I’m looking for in the Catholic Church I’ve just accepted Jesus that’s all.

I generally just talk to them with feelings and basic things I feel God gifted me with the ability to tell that it is them it’s the gift of discernment Paul listed in his Epistles and the ability to connect with them. I feel if I am reaching out to an angel through Gods Spirit then that is who I will reach demons don’t come near me.

Well I think if I am trying to communicate with one either they will say nothing if they are busy or if it is them they will answer and I have the gift of discernment so I will not be fooled.

Thanks for your concern though.

Do you think the same thing applies to Mary? That I should not fellowship with her because I could be deceived?

If you think you can’t be fooled, that’s a dangerous place to be in. We should always remember that as humans, we’re fallible, we’re prone to sin and error and to thinking we know more than we do. So we should constantly pray for guidance and for protection from sin and error, and always be vigilant, seeking counsel and avoiding things that could endanger our souls.

Regarding being fooled by demons, that’s something that can happen, but not because there’s anything wrong with speaking to angels. We can and should speak to our guardian angel to ask for their help, protection, and guidance. But there’s danger when you start trying to hear responses and interpret signs. And it’s nothing angel-specific. Even people praying to God can be deceived in this way and think they’re hearing his response when it’s actually just their own imagination or even Satan trying to trick them. People who are eager for communication, signs, and mystical experiences can easily fall into deception in this way, which can be dangerous to their souls. Even if you think you wouldn’t fall for deception, it can still be sinful to do this, potentially a form of superstition or divination.

In Catholic teaching, we continue to serve and do good in Heaven and the angels and saints in Heaven are a family who love and care for each and love us on Earth and are eager to help us. Praying to these people is as natural as speaking with friends and family on Earth and all of these prayers are made possible by the grace and love of God. God is our Father and as a father he delights whenever his children show love to each other and help each other.

We must always be respectful and kind to our parents but our first loyalty is always to God.

Peace.

I think you should start by having this fellowship with your guardian angel.
‘See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.’ - Matthew 18:10

If you are interested in the Catholic Church, then you should see about taking RCIA even if you are not sure if you want to join. You can take the classes without needing to make a commitment to join the Church.

With respect to speaking with saints (anyone in heaven is a saint, including Mother Mary) and angels, this is not a sin, but you also should not be expecting them to respond back all the time. Also, all prayers end up ultimately with God. As I said above, it would be helpful if you learned more about Catholicism so you could see these types of “conversations” in the context of our overall faith and practice. “Fellowship” is not really a word we use to describe it.

I would also be careful and find a local Priest to discuss this with. I made the mistake of leaving the Catholic Church for a couple of years and falling for the false teachings of the SDA faith, 🤦‍♀️. Regret it very much now. But, their whole belief system is based on a woman who said an angel of God gifted her with prophecy. Best source is a local parish for better teaching on this. We all do have a guardian angel. And there are the archangels we know of. But, you have to be careful with how and to whom you are praying to. We can be easily influenced in our ignorance.

I fellowship with Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.

I used to with Uriel too but a lot of people here frowned on that so I don’t really.

Ok. Why are you using the term “fellowship”. What does that mean?

It means to express love for and receive love. God has gifted me to be able to commune with them through feelings I don’t generally hear their voices as they are busy.
