Does the Bible state the view on gambling is it considered sin or is it ok if you gamble for fun and not being addicted to it.

I’ve heard it’s morally neutral because we can allocate our property as we see fit. If you gamble to the detriment of other parts of your life, then it would become a sin.

Everything in moderation… like any other activity, if taken to an extreme it is… if it has little or no impact on your responsibilities then it is not… the Pope pretty much says the same sort of thing about gambling. IF it does not affect your responsibilities then it is not.

Not unless it affects you negatively. For example, if you’re spending enough of your money on gambling that it takes away from money that should be spent elsewhere (ie. food, bills, family, etc).

From the Catechism (My bolding):
2413 Games of chance (card games, etc.) or wagers are not in themselves contrary to justice. They become morally unacceptable when they deprive someone of what is necessary to provide for his needs and those of others. The passion for gambling risks becoming an enslavement. Unfair wagers and cheating at games constitute grave matter, unless the damage inflicted is so slight that the one who suffers it cannot reasonably consider it significant.

And if you want to be technical, Insurance is gambling.

It’s called a ‘put bet’, each time you pay your premium, you are, in effect, telling the Insurer " I bet I’m going to get sick\die\have a fire\crash my car this month"

And the Insurance company is betting that you are not.

So if gambling was morally illicit, then having insurance would likewise be immoral.

Actually, isn’t not having insurance gambling? I tend to think I’m probably not going to meet with disaster, but just in case the “00” comes up, I’m covered, rather than the other way around.
