In “Is God Green?”–airing October 11 at 9 pm on PBS–Bill Moyers looks at evangelicals’ growing concern for saving the environment, debates within conservative Christian communities about environmentalism, and how Christian attitudes about the environment are informed by faith.

Makes sense to me. Stewards of the earth and all. Not to mention that any environmental issue inevitably is an issue to humanity as well - and even when it’s just an issue to animals, the Church has a stance on animal cruelty.

The showtime is 9 pm… but I think that is for the Eastern time zone. I checked my local listings and saw it is scheduled for 8 pm in my area (which is Central time zone).

Should be an interesting show! Thanks for mentioning it, Ahimsa.

I thought the show was good, but that Bill Moyers fell apart while questioning Beisner (the apologist for anti-environmental evangelicals). Moyers didn’t press Beisner over the issue of mankind being responsible for our pollution, but went off on a tangent of questioning whether hurricanes and volcanoes are the will of God. Then later he seemed incredulous over Beisner’s belief in the paramount importance of Jesus in mankind’s history.

Sad.:nope:

Ted Haggard was a prominent part of the Bill Moyers show. As head of the National Association of Evangelicals, he has steered the organization into support of what they call Creation Care.

He seems like a down to earth and sincere person. Please pray for him and his family as he weathers the drugs and gay sex charges against him.

It is good to hear Christians are finally becoming enviromentally minded. If only the common Catholic could too. The new agers and secularist have controlled this movement for too long. I hope we as Catholics will see our duty to care for the earth as well as our souls.
