The Pope’s Health really started to go downhill moments after Terri Shaivo passed away.

Is God Teaching Us A Lesson About the Shaivo Case with the Popes Situation??

If so, what do you believe about the connection?

Is the Pope Teaching the World How to Die with Human Dignity rather than Euthanizing The Weak Like in the Shaivo Case?

Just a thought: With how crazy and worked up people were getting over the Schiavo thing…now this is happening and the passions over the Schiavo case have settled and people are starting to quietly reflect on things again.

I mean in recent days I have heard people, supposedly good Catholic people say they would kill Michael Schiavo or people who have threatened Judge Greer or whatever. Now those same people whose deep feelings got about the Schiavo case got overboard…are deep in prayer for the Pope. It seems to have calmed some passions and allowed people to step back and realize that we’re called to something better than the anger and bitterness that seemed to surround so much of the Schiavo situation.

One lesson is a study in contrasts in death.

For John Paull II a normal, natural death of a person who was surrounded by those who loved him and who followed his wishes, who respected him and allowed him to be the Pope to his last breath.

In contrast there is the death of Terri Schiavo who was killed by an overt action, who had no voice, who had to face her final moments with her unfaithful husband and ghoulish lawyer.

What message is there in how human beings should die?

For Catholics today is DEVINE MERCY SUNDAY. A nine day chaplet is prayed from Good Friday thru Devine Mercy Sunday. Below is the Novena prayed on the 7th day of the Devine Mercy (the day of Terri Schaivo’s Death).

This is the prayer of the Divine Mercy novena for the day of Terris death:hmmm:

Seventh Day.

“Today bring to Me the souls who especially venerate and glorify My mercy, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over My Passion and entered most deeply into My Spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death.”

Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy. These souls are united to Jesus and carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.

A soul who praises the goodness of her Lord: Is especially loved by Him. She is always close to the living fountain; And draws graces from Mercy Divine.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their spirit, overflowing with joy, sings a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God: Show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let their be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them, “I Myself will defend as My own glory, during their life time, and especially at the hour of their death, those souls who will venerate My fathomless mercy”.

why would God strike down a loyal servant to teach the rest of us a lesson?

that sounds like a terrible sugestion

we of course can draw lessons from events bit to sugest that it was all contrived…

With God every moment and every situation is a teaching moment and teaching situation. So, yes, God is speaking to us with regard to Terri and HH the Pope.

I don’t think of the Pope as having been “struck down” by God, but taken up to his heavenly reward.
I saw the Terri Schiavo situation as sort of a spiritual turning point in our world. I don’t know what’s going to happen next, but I think the pope dying soon afterwards confirms it - one era has passed and another is beginning - what it will bring, though, I don’t know.
