I saw it. I’d see it again, if my town had it.

It is somewhat corny but the music is great. IMNAAHO.

I probably wouldn’t watch it for the theology, but it is one of those movies that’s kinda fun to see every once-in-awhile. I found it rather entertaining.

I’ve seen it and I didn’t really like the music. There were a couple of songs that were okay, but none of them really rocked my world.

Hmmm, I was thinking about the stage show not the film.

I wouldn’t seek for theology in either, but I found the stage show quite enjoyable.

I have seen it numerous times. It is very enjoyable…the stage production not the film. We sang Day by Day at my HS graduation in the 70s.

I’m not a big fan, although I’ve only seen the movie and not a stage production. One funny thing about it is that when I was in high school, one of the religion teachers at another local Catholic school would show Godspell to her classes each year. At our school it was Jesus Christ Superstar. Of those who’ve voiced an opinion, my friends from the other high school love Godspell and don’t care for JCS, while those from my high school love JCS and don’t care for Godspell.

Looking back, I am guessing that is what the OP was talking about.

I worked behind the scenes on a production of Godspell (and had a blast!) and have seen a couple of other productions and I would love to see it again. No production is the same as another; the music, script, storyline are the same but the sets, costumes and the “theme” can vary and people can get really creative. I have CD of the movie version and a Broadway version.

I’ll let you know. Seeing it this weekend with our church’s youth group ( on stage)

I wanted to like Godspell because I love “We Beseech Thee”. Alas I found the rest of the music not to my liking.

I liked the whole thing. Loved the music. But then, it was the backbone of my adolescent catechesis between 1978 and 1981. By 1982, I had left the Catholic Church for a bible-based evangelical church. 😦
