I read earlier in this thread that in the bible it says Judas is in hell and would have been better to have not been born. Where does it say this?

He said in reply, “He who has dipped his hand into the dish with me is the one who will betray me. The Son of Man indeed goes, as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had never been born.” Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply, “Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” He answered, “You have said so.” Matthew 26:23-25

When I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me, and I guarded them, and none of them was lost except the son of destruction, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled. John 17:12

Note that it doesn’t 100% say for certain that Judas is definitely in hell and St. Teresa, I’ve been told, hoped that he might have been spared since she saw in her own sins the betrayal of Christ. But, it doesn’t look good.

This was said by Midnightsun:

“But let’s say, hypothetically, that the overwhelming consensus of the Saints somehow was incorrect and that the majority of people are saved. Even in this case, it would still make the most sense to live your life under the assumption that few will be saved (it would just be an unexpected surprise when you got to heaven). If, on the other hand, a person lived his/her life under the assumption that many will be saved and he/she became comfortable emulating the lives of the multitude, if it then turned out that few are saved then this person would be in big trouble come judgment day.”

Well said. It has saved me more than once.

“Good Shepherd, may I sing your praise within your house forever.” (hymn)

Thank-you JMJ coder. I had always hoped that Judas had a final moment conversion.
