I have a question regarding “manscaping” (i.e., men plucking/waxing their eyebrows, getting manicures/pedicures, shaving their body hair, etc.). If it’s okay for women to do it, is it a sin for a man to do it?
No, it’s not a sin. But it does seem to me that such a feminine interest by a man in manipulating his personal appearance to social expectations of beauty – as distinguished from a normal masculine interest in personal hygiene and bodily maintenance – could be indicative of disordered masculine identification issues that may need to be addressed with an orthodox Catholic counselor who upholds the Church’s teaching on sexuality. If this is the case, I recommend the Pastoral Solutions Institute, a Catholic counseling apostolate.
