Is it a sin to use products with hemp or hemp seed oil? I bought some soap and discovered later that it had hemp seed oil in it.

According to the CCC 2291, part of it says “The use of drugs inflicts very grave damage on human health and life. Their use, except on strictly therapeutic grounds, is a very grave offense.”

For the record, yes, I’m scrupulous/have OCD.

Moderation is the key in using any substance on this earth. I have glaucoma and in addition to the drops I use, I use marijuana to help relieve the pressure in my eyes. I don’t think me doing such a thing is a sin if doing so helps me keep my sight.

There is a policy on CAF, if one has scruples they need to ask these questions of their confessor.

No, Catholic from birth. I quit tobacco products in 1995 and am so glad I did. They are highly addictive substances that cause great damage to people.

I think it would be wise to seek help from a Catholic priest as well as a counselor for your own peace of mind. Strangers on a forum are not qualified to give you the help you need to ease those anxieties. I can totally sympathize; I am OCD as well and i know how difficult it can be to stop those ruminating thoughts. But I have found that speaking with a counselor has given me great relief and coping mechanisms.

Someone please do correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like that paragraph is speaking specifically about illicit drugs? CBD is legal in most places, so as long as you’re not breaking any laws, then I don’t see how it would be a problem. It doesn’t contain THC either so you can’t get high from it.

Moreover, I have a herniated disc in my lower spine and torn cartilage in my hip from years of being a dancer. By far, CBD has helped me more than any other medicine or supplement I have tried. It has also been known to treat anxiety and depression, and a number of different neurological diseases. Its medicinal uses are remarkable.

As I used to, but for me I abused them way too much and that was not good. Now I like a beer or a good whisky occasionally as well and at this point in my life not liable to abuse them anymopre.

Oh, don’t get me wrong - I really enjoyed smoking. I used to get my pipes custom made and I loved those English tobaccos for sure. And a good cigar? Nothing wrong with that either. Went to Canada once and had a Cuban stick, very enjoyable - but at $25.00 a pop way out of my league.

Seek help from a priest and let him know you’re scrupulous. Don’t ask internet strangers, it’ll make things worse.

From what I’ve heard, the premium cigars available now are better.

If it can’t induce a high state then it doesn’t count as a drug. Using soap with hemp seed oil is no more sinful than eating a muffin with poppy seeds on it.

I’ve occasionally used CBD for pain that’s so bad I can’t sleep. Usually Arnica montana 30c works for me but when it’s that bad I use CBD.

Soap is certainly an appropriate use. The paragraph is about using substances for mind altering sinful pleasure. It’s more about how you use something than anything else.
