Is it a travesty that both "Leaving Neverland" and "Surviving R. Kelly" have been nominated for Emmys?

What? I don’t get it.
Yeah, I can’t tell what the travesty is supposed to be. Is it that we have two singers who we could make documentaries about their sexual abuse? Is it that those two documentaries are highly acclaimed? Is there some perceived wrong in how it focuses on these two and that there aren’t other popular documentaries on other pedophiles or sex offenders? Is it the fascination with the topic of sexual abuse?

No, it’s not a travesty it’s just the issue of sexual harassment is a big issue and the organizers wanted to emphasize that it’s an important issue and I agree with them.
I stopped listening to Michael’s music. It was vintage to me, most of it anyway, but good vintage. But I just don’t feel comfortable listening to it now.

Why would it be a travesty that the TV industry is recognising investigative documentary making that highlights and exposes the problem of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry?

I don’t particularly care, except if particality is somehow involved.

Where is the “how would I know?” option for people that haven’t seen either film and don’t plan on it either?

Not at all. And why would ‘Leaving Neverland’ not be a documentary unless they somehow misrepresented what the interviewees were saying? It can br legitimate journalism to present one person’s version of events - not like Jackson or Kelly supporters dont have tons of ability to respond.

Why didn’t you explain that this is your angle when you posted the original question? I wouldn’t take Nicole’s View particularly seriously. She is pursuing a pretty niche agenda in which she appears to see everything as racist towards black people and refuses to admit that sometimes a black person has actually done something wrong. If you look at her Twitter feed you’ll see that she’s posting stuff about Bill Cosby being innocent too. She seems to quite like O.J. Simpson too. She also seems a rather hostile towards black people who don’t share her very specific political outlook. I wouldn’t take what she says that seriously.

Leaving Neverland was extremely eye opening about the abuses that Michael Jackson was accused of. I think the accusers stories and allegations are credible and I find it highly unlikely that everything they’ve recounted is merely made up.

Go watch the documentary Abducted In Plain Sight and then watch Leaving Neverland. The similarities in behavior between Robert Berchtold and Michael Jackson are shocking!

Funnily enough, I kind of guessed at it with:
Is there some perceived wrong in how it focuses on these two and that there aren’t other popular documentaries on other pedophiles or sex offenders?
Before settling on that wording, I was going to be more overt in wondering if this was about racism, but I try to minimize my use of this forum’s r-word for fear of diverting the discussions that may not be about it.

Yep. Who would have the audacity to make up such graphic things when if you were lying you would be in court before your feet touched the floor? Sadly I believe those men

I don’t know how exposing child sexual abuse and any other improper sexual relationships is a travesty, maybe other than celebrity culture giving both impunity against such crimes for decades when reasonable evidence said otherwise. Unfortunately there are still massive examples of this stuff continuing even today.

Well, yes, and as the case of Carl Beech shows, the consequences can involve criminal charges as well as civil claim. For the sake of fairness we should say that Mr Beech denies all charges and that the case continues.
