I was baptized married in the Episcopal church but am now legally divorced. My ex-husband was baptized in the Catholic church but was not a practicing Catholic when we married or divorced. I have met and would like to marry a Catholic man who has never been married before. In addition to converting to Catholicism, is it also mandatory that I seek and be granted an annulment before we would be allowed to marry in the Catholic church? If so, would my ex-husband need to be involved in or cooperate with the annulment process in any way, or is this something I can pursue on my own? What is the liklihood that I would be granted an annulment, and how long does the annulment process normally take start to finish?
