Dear Forum Peers,

I have been hearing in the news that our healthcare systems across cities is increasingly partaking in partnerships with other systems of healthcare. What is the ethical benefit of such partnerships. It seems the only practical benefit is to advance job opportunities for non Catholics whose professional communities are bulging at the seams. But what will happen to our ethics in these hybrid institutions? Are the partnerships really a ploy for co-opting a very valuable infrastructure? Do you know of any recent facility [or other] closures that are really politically motivated.

Please restrict your comments to ethics, practicality, and the integrity of the infrastructure as I do not want this thread closed. This is a very rich social-philosophical topic and I look forward to your thoughts!

It’s hard to speculate, as the Catholic test cases are still to be heard by SCOTUS.

Wasn’t the type of response I was expecting at all, Sirach2v4. But, will merging/partnering our Catholic institutions with other faith groups indicate willingness to compromise with traditional enemies in the interests of economic gain?
If you ask what difference will this make to the court, I would respond ahead of time maybe not to the current standing, but the appointment process is indubitably political.
