Is it appropriate to require standing after Communion?

My husband and I recetly moved into a diocese that stands during and after communion until everyone in the church has received communion, then they allow you to kneel for a short period of time.
This is not at all what I have been taught and this is the first area of the country that I have ever encountered this. Is this appropriate or even considered okay by our church?
