Is it appropriate to take an Examination of Conscience guide to the confessional?

So, I’m going to Confession tonight, and I printed out a guide for the Examination of Conscience that basically goes over the Ten Commandements and Four Precepts of the Church with questions of “did I do this or that…” Is it appropriate to take it with me so that I don’t leave anything out?

You should have the answers to the Examination before you go to the confessional in order to eliminate any waste of time of your confessor.

Rosary guy is correct. There is no problem with bringing in a guide or notes to the confessional to help you remember all of your sins during Confession, however. Actually, it’s a good idea - I occasionally exit the confessional and suddenly remember something I intended to confess but momentarily forgot while in there.

I think it’s perfectly fine.

At my Church we have a little thingy beside the Confessional that has them so people can take one as they wait, so I’m assuming some people bring them in.

Yes and yes. Go over it ahead of time like Rosary guy suggested, and still bring it in with you so you don’t forget anything.

WHat I do is make my examination of conscience and write down my sins on a piece of paper and just take the list of sins to the confessional. If I have to go into “the box” I also bring a small flash light with me so I can read them.
