It’s not always fear of judgement.why do people fear judgment from their family?
Sometimes there are power dynamics going on, and people think that asking for advice is an admission of weakness or ignorance, and sadly, some people love giving advice because they think it puts them in a position of power.
Their advice might actually be good, but then they start to see themselves as the leader or the grownup in the relationship…

Honestly, if you want to get along with them you have to make and effort.
Start a simple, (non dramatic, non defensive, loving) dialog.
They probably wonder what makes you tick.
