Is it good to hate this life?

Honey, you’re not dead, yet. Nobody knows what’s beyond this life. You can choose to spend it however you wish to, but remember: For all we know, the afterlife can simply be the state of the unborn.

I would definitely encourage you NOT to follow this advice! We DO know that the elect will receive eternal glory and felicity in the Hereafter. It is in the creed, “We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come”. Denial of this is more than error, it is heresy.

On a lighter note, “hating this life” and falling into despair are two very different things. I would take a moment to honestly ask yourself if, in hating this life, it is wrong to feel a wife of yours safe in your arms. As members of Christ’s Church we are instructed to “rejoice.” There is little or no Scriptural evidence to support the position that the gift of joy is to be received only ever in the Church Triumphant. What is meant by this passage is that we are to despise wordliness, the seductions and powers of this life, the City of Man. I am sorry if this is entirely unoriginal on this post, but it is always worth hearing.

I’m preparing to be an OCDS member and am reading this morning in the preface of our OCDS Constitutions that “Through Baptism we take part in the triple mission of Jesus: kingly, priestly and prophetic. The first is a commitment to transforming the world according to God’s design. By the priestly mission, the baptized persons offers self and the whole of creation to the Father with Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit. And as prophet, the baptized announces God’s plan for human kind and denounces all that is contrary to it.”

God’s Kingdom is in heaven and begins for us here on earth, especially now that we are in the Church on earth. This world is not just a vale of tears - though it truly is a vale of tears; it is a prelude to the Kindom of heaven for those who live in this world with their hearts fixed on God faithful to their baptismal mission: called as children of God to be priest, prophet and king to the world and in the world - not to be of the world, however.

well it certainly is easy to hate the weather and a flood kills hundreds of innocent folks,its easy to hate politiciains who talk of war against strangers,they sit home and clap while our sons and daughters go off to that no win conflict…its easyto hate the media that glorifies child molestors and bump and grind dancers while ignoring the decent people in this world…Jesus hated child molestors and suggested a novel use of the millstone to be used on these perverts.I hate the administration and this one evil man who posed as a chaplain and was later exposed to molesting a dozen boys…not to hate means one is without conscience nor values…

How do you reconcile that with the command that we love even our enemies?
