Is it immoral to employ illegal immigrants?

I was wondering if it’s morally acceptable to hire undocumented workers as housekeepers and babysitters, since giving them employment provides an opportunity for them to better their lives? Further, if one hires an undocumented worker, is one obliged to pay that person the same salary that an American would earn, or is it acceptable to pay them the lower rate that they usually accept?
