It seems as if every year just before Easter there are more programs and documentaries which paint the Church and Christianity in a bad way. Seems like more so than any other time of year. Anyone else notice this?

It just seems to be a way to sell advertising, that is, anything contraversial. Same with any entertainment, people want to see what the “issue” is, even when it’s not a program or movie that they would normally watch. Best bet?–Don’t watch TV, that way you won’t be part of the problem,LOL!–nicolo

Nico has a point! Don’t watch tv. I remember, way back in the '70s they would run Jesus of Nazareth every year at Easter.

I think the History Channel still does. Though if I remember correctly, they have “historical” commentaries every fifteen minutes or something like that. I don’t remember how orthodox they are.

I agree. I think the networks have discovered that the Easter season is kind of a “mini-sweeps” in that they can attract the attention of us religious types by putting Jesus into the programming. The idea is to get ratings and attention for their shows, but controversy generates more advertising dollars because it gets people worked up. If people are worked up they’re more likely to talk about the topic, the show, the interviewer and the network. More attention, more ratings, more money. Remember, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Don’t watch, don’t feed the beast. Pray a rosary or divine mercy chaplet instead if I may humbly suggest.

I have noticed more then just Easter.
Every year during Advent and the latter part of Lent you find all over the TV documentaries trying to find "The Real ____ "
Fill in the blank, Jesus, Mary, the Apostles, The Early Church, etc.

It is funny that in their reality, reality just does not exist.

Its nothing new. It happens every year at Christmas and Easter…the extreme leftists will try and cast doubt and the media picks it up…on the other side of same coin, the Bill O’ Reillys of the world take a few isolated instances and try to inflame people about a “war on christmas” so they or their friends can sell books.

The playbook has always been like this which is why I stopped getting upset about it years ago.

I am not so certain the quotes would be warranted in this instance.
It seems to cast doubt on the war against Christmas.
While it is true that O’Reilly has put a spotlight on it, I have noticed for many years before that the popular media and society in general have a war going on against anything but the most secular celebrations of Christmas.

Satan uses the media and television to attack the Church. The television is his tabernacle.

If the tv is his tabernacle and more easily monitored and controlled by parents… then logic dictates the Internet, filled with all manner of porn that can be gotten to or bypassed even with filters, is his church/chalice & relic all rolled into one.
