Is it me, or the Lady of Fatime looks oddly Portuguese?

Yes. Just as Our Lady of Guadalupe looks Aztec, so does Our Lady of Fatima, Portugal look Portuguese. In apparitions, either Mary 1.) appears in a form that the person can understand and connect with, or 2.) the person who sees her is only able to translate their vision through their own cultural lens to an artist of that culture who then creates the statue or painting. (Well, except in Guadalupe where the image IS part of the miracle)

This does not trouble me; does it trouble you?

I have noticed that each artist paints Blessed Mother according to their cultural background.
I painted the Blessed Mother American style with a white and blue dress. Then I painted her face with a Spanish look since I am Mexican-American.
The artist decides what look they want. Luci

Isn’t Fatima in Portugal? Why wouldn’t she want to blend in with the locals? No word from the Vatican on what a resurrected or glorified body should look like. Or not look like. Let it go.

When the three children were being questioned about the visions they were shown different pictures of Our Lady. The children rejected all the pictures until they were shown a picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe and they all cried out at once, “Thats Her”.

Now if you look at the picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of Fatima side by side and take into account that in the Guadalupe picture Her head is gazing down at a slight angle you can see the resemblance.

When the Virgin appeared to St Bernadette, she appeared as a very small girl about the same size as Bernadette herself. They, Priests, Bishops, Nuns artists etc, took exhaustive testimony from Bernadette down to the minutest detail about Her appearance so that a statue could be made.

When they unveiled the statue Bernadette looked at it and said that it was very, beautiful but it wasn’t Her and really didn’t look like Her. . So Our Lady appears to everyone in a very special unique and personal way that each person is comfortable with.
