My 76 y/o dad is a widower for the past 14 months.
He has been seeing a woman from Church for the past few months. He is planning to winter in Florida and wonders if he would be in conflict with the Church if he took her with him.
They would share a bed (no sex). He is too uncomfortable to ask (or have me ask) our parish priest.

I’d like to know the Church’s stance in this matter.

Thanks:blush:

Hi,

For some strange reason some ederly people assume that because they are elderly, they are exempt from the Church’s teaching about sexuality. They are not exempt.

It would be most inappropriate for your father to share an apartment, let alone a bed, with a woman to whom he is not married. Besides, these days seventy-six is not all that old. Whether or not they have sexual relations, they could still give scandal to others by their living arrangements.
