Is it OK to play this game?

My brother recently got SSBU (Super smash bros ultimate) and one of the characters in the game is Bayonetta. According to my research, she’s a witch who uses demons to kill angels or something of the sort, certainly nothing appealing from what I’ve seen. Although I would never want to play that sort of game does her presence in the game create any sort of problems here or am I just being scrupulous?

I would avoid it. It doesn’t sound like some something edifying or that will help build your relationship with Christ.

We need to avoid avoiding the world in its entirety. That said, we also need to avoid things which are detrimental to our faith. I have actually played Bayonetta, the game itself, and I stopped playing because I too didn’t like it because of the whole portrayal of religion- it felt too close to being something much more grave in matter than I had anticipated.

Does going to a bar that happens to have a gay couple in it at the same time mean that we are endorsing same-sex marriage? There’s a difference between going to a bar that happens to have a gay couple in it, and going to a gay bar. Hope this helps.

Super Smash Bros is a cartoon beat 'em up party game with popular Nintendo characters like Mario, Kirby, Princess Peach, Pikachu, Fox, and a mash of many other Nintendo faces. In the most recent two versions some non-Nintendo characters have been added in making “guest appearances”. Bayonetta is one of them. I beg anyone with concerns to look up Super Smash Bros gameplay. Her inclusion in this game as one of 74 playable characters shouldn’t be a reason not to play it. Maybe avoid Bayonetta games, but not Super Smash Bros for that reason.

Have to draw the line between reality and a PG rated video game of all things. But if this game mentally tortures you, then stop playing altogether.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate in of itself is fine. It’s a fairly family-friendly game, which Nintendo has a habit of aiming for. I’d say just avoid playing as Bayonetta in the game, if it’s a cause for concern. Besides, there are so many cooler characters to play as (for myself, those cooler characters are Greninja and Lucario, among others). Not a reason to avoid the game as a whole, since there are literally 73 other characters to play as.
