Is it okay to clap during Mass?

What is your opinion on clapping during the Mass right after Holy Communion? Some people at our church applaud the choir after they sing the song following the Communion song. In other words, the priest is still purifying the chalice and ciborium and then a group of people applaud the choir. I think it is inappropriate and disturbing during this solemn time. Thank you
