Note: if you get two copies of this question, please know it’s because I had some technical problems (session expired on me), not because I meant to double-post!
Many times, I have heard that people should follow their dreams and aspirations for the future; to go seek their fortune, put together a life that makes them happy and that they find fulfilling.
My question is, does this conflict with the Christian teaching that we should want God’s will to be done in our lives?
I very much want to believe that it’s not a sin to follow your dreams and aspirations; to do what you want to do in life — as long as you abide by God’s laws and strive to grow in the faith and practice the works of mercy wherever you are, and whatever you choose to do. Is my understanding correct? Would it be acceptable, morally permissible, to proceed this way?
