Is it okay to not marry?

I’ve been thinking about the topic of marriage for some time now, especially now that my dad is getting remarried, which is outside of the Catholic church but that is an issue for another thread, and this leads to me wonder if people like me, as in adults who are in their early 20s raised in “broken families”, should even bother with marriage. Nobody in my immediate family turned out a valid successful Catholic marriage, so the odds are probably against me. But this alone isn’t my reason for not getting married.

It seems to me that there are the practicalities on not being married, and by practical I mean things that are generally not up in the air. Right now I’m able to do some traveling, dining out on a regular basis, buying loads of books, and things in general I probably couldn’t do financially if I was married with kids on the way. Now, I think I should mention that I’ve never been on a date, so I wouldn’t know exactly how much the activities mentioned above would improve if a girlfriend/wife was with me. If the people around me serve as indicators, then my answer would be no, the quality of said activities wouldn’t improve that much.

The glaring problem that I think would only end in tears would be sexual tension. As someone struggling with masturbation, counting the days, I’ve become aware of the fact that after masturbating I’d simply lose any interest in sexual desire for the majority of the day. If sexual desire is so fleeting, and because sexual longings would be one of the top reasons for getting married, then would marriage be a sensible thing to do for someone like me? I suppose the main question that I would like answered would be: Is marriage a logical thing to go through for men like me?
