I’ve heard some say that under no circumstances should one talk or communicate with demonic entities. Now, as far as I can remember, I haven’t done this; at most, I may deny a temptation or wicked thought before rebuking satan (him specifically because I’ve always believed he’d cover all of them) in Jesus’ name, and praying to Christ for forgiveness for insurance.

Would rebuking the devil still count as “communicating” with the devil in the forbidden way still? Should I rebuke his attacks, or should I simply pray instead?

Sometimes when I’m under massive demonic attacks (multiple attacks coming simultaneously), I oftentimes, whilst rebuking them, may say “no I won’t do x” followed by a rebuke. I can’t remember whether these comments were intentional or accidental.

Should I seek a priest or exorcist in case I accidentally invited demonic spirits into me through such remarks? I know I haven’t been possessed (which is good), however, oppression could always be possible, or, if I did invite them, they could just be biding their time until they feel it’s best to strike; I don’t want to give them that chance.

Jude 1:9 Yet the archangel Michael, when he argued with the devil in a dispute over the body of Moses, did not venture to pronounce a reviling judgment* upon him but said, “May the Lord rebuke you!”
Personally, I would follow St Michael’s lead and leave the rebuking to God. I would stick with praying, the prayer to St Micheal is a good one.

When I Feel tempted or I am in trouble I immediately say the prayer to St. Michael.
St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle;
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil
May God rebuke him we humbly pray
And do thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host by the power of God. cast into … hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin … of souls. Amen

Pray the Rosary and the St Michael prayer.

Don’t discourse with the devil says Holy Father Pope Francis. He says tell the devil ‘begone satan’ , then pray.

Also don’t try to argue or reason with Satan. He’s too clever.

The less said, the better.

When tormented with thoughts of persecution, or how I’ve been mistreated. I ask God to rebuke the harassing and tormenting spirits. It has been done immediately. Those thoughts stop. May God bless you.

This quote is out of context to the issue. Imperative commands are permitted according to people like Father Amorth, former chief exorcist of Rome and many others. This one liner in the Bible has a purpose, but is not the total of what the Church permits. Actually Jesus gave permission for all the faithful to perform full exorcism. It is only the Church’s regulations, which the Church is permitted to do, that restricts solemn exorcism to priests.

Only focus towards God. They try to make you solve things on your own, because that’s prideful. Only God.

Scripture says “resist the devil and he will flee from you”. Don’t give him more power than he actually has. Resist.
