Is it okay to use a rosary that does not have a crucifix on it but only a cross? The reason I ask is because the corpus on the crucifix of my favorite rosary recently fell off and I have no idea what happened to it.

Do I need to go buy a new crucifix before I can use it again? Or will it be all right if I use it still? I have other rosaries to use but this particular rosary means a lot to me.

Yes, it is perfectly fine to use a rosary without a crucifix. Although it is a sacramental and should be treated with due reverence, the main purpose of a rosary chain is to act as a prayer counter. Since you could just as easily use your hands as a prayer counter when praying the prayers of the rosary, the crucifix is an optional extra. Crucifixes are handy for helping the person meditate on Christ’s Passion while praying the rosary, but they are not required.
