Is it permissable to get a tattoo in Catholicism?

I’m sure many catholics get them, but, according to Leviticus 19:28:

(Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.)

they are abhorent to God as disrespectful to the human body, which is, after all, made in his image.

So, is it okay or not. I am thinking of getting a “WWJD” on the inside of my wrist. It’s somewhat tasteful and it’s not like I’m getting Satan’s portrait on my forehead.

I think this piece of scripture simply refers to the pagan practice in biblical times of people having the names of dead loved ones scarred onto them. Is it the thought that counts?
