Is it possible to commit adultery during sleep walking?

local newspaper cited a woman, while sleep walking, went out of her house and committed adultery during the night. and only noticed the fact the next morning. is it possible? is it a mortal sin?

I would say the whole concept is for this question is null and void, for the simple fact that the source isn’t reliable, and the woman’s story could never be proved.

I will base my opinoin on this question. How much luck would i have convinceing my wife that i wasn’t conciously cheating on her, i was sleep-adultering.
Hmmmm, somehow, I don’t think i would survive to make it to the end of the lie I was telling, nor would the lie fly with me if i were the spouse of this woman.

I would like to see a link to the story, and proof that alcohol or some other drug wasn’t involved 😉 .

the story was there a week ago plus I bet you can’t read Chinese.
it said the the woman was a long time sleep walker. No info on drug or alcohol.
If her husband believes a story like that, I guess the woman can also be called “blessed”😃
 
I don’t think so, but it certainly is the most creative excuse I’ve heard in a long time. (“It didn’t mean anything, honey; we were just sleepwalking!”)
 
My husband would have to call me from another country to try to sell me that excuse:tsktsk: Where are the fist smiles when you need them?😃 God Bless

Maybe a good excuse for the court,but I don’t think many spouses would buy it,and if they acted like they bought it,the sleep walking spouse would be attached to more booby traps than 007 can concoct:D God Bless
 
Sounds like a wacky story to me, but assuming it’s really true:

The answer is NO. It is impossible to sin while asleep.
 
the newspaper being the star, globe or national enquirer, I assume. given the exceedingly unlikely possibility that such a scenario is possible, sin requires knowledge, grave matter and consent. If she was truly sleepwalking, no consent was possible so no sin. If her husband believes that story, his story should also make “news of the weird”

something similar actually happened in Portage county Ohio a few years ago so don’t laugh. hub came in unexpectedly in the middle of night and wife mistook him for a prowler and shot him. Subsequent investigation made her story sound contrived, but she got off.
 
I saw a similar story on the BBC web site a month or two ago. apparently there is some medical condition where people can do things in their sleep that seem as if they are awake. I suppose it’s very rarely possible if all the doctors say it is true, but I doubt I would be able to take such a claim seriously if some one I was involved with told me that.

Actually, there was a case where a man killed his mother-in-law, who lived miles away from him. He claimed that he had driven to her house and killed her in his sleep, and that when he woke up he had no idea why he was in his car or why his hands were bleeding. He eventually convinced both his wife and the jury. Apparently his family had a history of sleepwalking and doing odd things in sleepwalking, like cooking. Also, sleepwalkers in his family would get violent if they are disturbed. Like serendipity said, it’s rarely possible, if possible at all. I don’t know that I buy the husband’s story of driving in his sleep, but I thought it might interest you that something like this has actually happened.

I leave it to the medical experts. They say such a thing is possible.

Heck, I do not understand drug/alcohol addiction and I find it very hard to believe that someone could be so ruled by an addicition that it would ruin their life, but my disbelief in it does not mean that it can not and does not happen.
 
I don’t know about sleep walking but my wife has complained at times about me being all over her in the middle of the night and I don’t remember it whatsoever. :twocents:
