Would it be a sin to celebrate my bday on a friday night? It will include alot of red meat, booze. I tried to schedule it on a saturday but can’t.

-_-

I would think there’s nothing wrong with having a party as such; but if it’s a sin to eat meat on Friday then it’s a sin to eat meat at a party on Friday. Maybe you can have a salad or some fish?

No, of course not. Why would you think it was a sin?

You don’t state where you are located. If you are in the US, abstaining from meat is required in Lent only. If you are somewhere else, for example the UK, then you would need to follow whatever guidelines are in place.

Serving and eating meat if you are in a location that maintains the Friday abstention from meat would be a sin separate and apart from celebrating your birthday. Meat is not required to celebrate one’s birthday.
Here again, a totally separate matter from celebrating your birthday. Alcohol is not required to celebrate a birthday. And, if one were to abuse alcohol or encourage others to do so-- then one is committing an entirely different set of sinful actions.

It is fine to have a drink with friends, it is another thing entirely to say your birthday will include “alot (sic) of booze”. Excessive use of alcohol remains grave matter whether it’s your birthday or not.

Well the day of the week is really irrelevant if one plans excesses of all types. Isn’t it?

Serving a lot of alcohol to a lot of people isn’t a problem.

Serving a lot of alcohol to only a few people, or one – that’s a problem. :_

Yes, you’re allowed to have a party on Friday. In future, you can think of a quieter kind of party for Fridays, if you want to maintain more of a penitent-compatible lifestyle on Friday, or have your party on other days, as you mentioned you’d prefer. Obviously, you don’t actually have to eat the red meat yourself, if you don’t want to, but you can also observe “another form of penance.”

Anyway, none of this stuff is a sin, according to the discipline these days. But it is something to consider and be prudent about.
