Is it true that Jews and Muslims can be saved?

After a long period of prayer, research, and an even longer (much longer) period of indifferentism (within the context of Christianity) and even doubt, I re-discover and accept Catholicism and resolve to go to confession… Well, during the course of this confession/conversation the priest maintained that Jews and Muslims can be saved by living out their respective religions. Also, apparently anyone who dies in grace. I didn’t say anything at the time (since I was more concerned and focused on my confession so I let it go) but it has bothered me and confused very much since then, i.e. it takes Christ out of salvation. …
