Is it true there were 3 popes at one time?

Hello there -

I’m a Protestant trying to understand Catholicism better. I want to be fair in my understanding of Catholic Doctrine and Theology to find the differences and similarities. In studying for Sunday School material I am tracing the Papacy and after Pope Gregory the XI, three Popes were selected:

Pope Urban VI from Naples
Pope Clement the VII
Pope Alexander the V

How does the Catholic church respond to this event? I am limited in my understanding of Catholic doctrine so if a lengthier response exists elsewhere I would appreciate a link or two
