Is it wrong to kneel down in front of, or have in your home, pictures of Jesus?

My father’s protestant friend told me that Jesus said in the Bible not to create for ourselves and image or picture of him or something. I am wondering if it is bad to adore statues of Christ. The reason i’m worried is because we all know that the facial features of those images were not really what Christ looked like…does that mean that we’re idolizing the features of another man? I’m real confused about this. I used to love having pictures of Christ in my room for encouragement. I just don’t want to hurt Him by admiring something he doesn’t want me admiring.
