Jewish Attitude Toward Divorce
Judaism recognized the concept of “no-fault” divorce thousands of years ago. Judaism has always accepted divorce as a fact of life, albeit an unfortunate one. Judaism generally maintains that it is better for a couple to divorce than to remain together in a state of constant bitterness and strife.

Under Jewish law, a man can divorce a woman for any reason or no reason. The Talmud specifically says that a man can divorce a woman because she spoiled his dinner or simply because he finds another woman more attractive, and the woman’s consent to the divorce is not required. In fact, Jewish law requires divorce in some circumstances: when the wife commits a sexual transgression, a man must divorce her, even if he is inclined to forgive her.

The Protestant Reich Church was formed by Adolf Hitler in 1933, by merging 28 regional churches into one church. While this seems to be somewhat off topic in this thread, it should be noted that the Reich Church did not encompass all of German Protestantism. There was also the Confessing Church which was part of the resistance.

Catholicism, however, never appealed to the Nazis. (Hitler said on a number of occasions that he was nearer in spirit to Protestantism.) Principally this was because Catholicism was internationalist in outlook, while German Protestants were for the most part fiercely nationalist. But the Nazis’s detestation of Rome derived also from their skewed notions about the papacy.

How did this thread turn from a discussion of non-Catholic Bibles to a discussion of the Nazi party anyway? I think whoever started this whole Nazi debate should start a new thread about Catholics, Protestants and the Nazi party so we can get this thread back to its original discussion of non-Catholic Bibles.

this is simply not so. Hitler from his childhood was obsessed with Catholic practices and doctrine. I don’t wish for this to turn into a discussion of Nazism’s relationship with Catholicism but there are some facts here than simply cannot be ignored.
