Is missing Mass a mortal sin??

Hi my name is edgar and I’m 16 years old. I haven’t gone to church for a good two months now but I just recently began to go to church. I really don’t have any excuse why I missed church. And I was told missing mass is a mortal sin. I don’t really know what mortal sin is and is bad if I miss mass for a long time . And also do you have to got confession in order to recieve communion?
