you only need a new one if you feel ready for a study Bible, or beyond that, a commentary on each book of the Bible. Depends on your age and needs. The Didache Bible is a Catholic study Bible with references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. So is the Ignatius New Testament Study Bible.

Ding.

The timer went off and it must be time for me to suggest that each household have a library of Bible study books. Pick your price range. I must have over $2500 worth of books but i won’t tell you what to buy. That’s very individualistic.

I have Jewish commentaries which focus a lot on the text, which is helpful up to a point. But again, the Church cautions you to recognize the limitations of reading different points of view (protestant or Jewish, for example).

Your local library might have the latest Interpreter’s Bible, which is a Protestant slanted commentary. It may nevertheless be helpful up to the point where it disagrees with Catholic teaching.

Sure, that’s not a problem at all. There is no expiration date on bible translations
