Is my conversion valid?

Before my marriage I converted to Catholicism. The priest was aware that we were living together, but never mentioned it. Now I’m worried that my conversion may not be valid in some way because of it. Can you advise me please?

Hi Queenie,

Sacraments can be valid or invalid, but not conversions. The sacraments of Baptism and/or Confirmation would have been valid if you were sincere in your desire to receive them. If you deliberately withheld information, this could have been a sin. It sounds like you didn’t know that the Church expected you to not be living with a boy friend. We are not guilty for whatever we don’t know.
