My father has advanced Alzheimer’s. He hallucinates, doesn’t speak much, and is detached from reality. I asked a priest to administer the anointing of the sick. Because of his illness, will my father remain in a state of grace until he dies? I don’t think he’s capable of sinning willfully, but I’m not sure.

Hi,

Yes, I would say so. Due to his illness, your father’s free will is so iimpaired, that it is highly unlikely that he can sin.
