Is New Years a holy day this year?

I am going to be out in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl on New Years Day. I was wondering if Jan 1st was a Holy Day of Obligation for those in that area. It is here in PA, but I have reason to believe it isn’t out there…please let me know…Go Penn State

Hi,

January first, the Solemnity of the Mother of God is a holy day of obligation throughout the United States. I’m sure that there are vigil Masses and Masses later in the day in the Pasadena area. I used to be the pastor of St. Dominics in Eagle Rock which is next to Pasadena.

If you knew that you were going to die on Jan 2, which would you most want to attend on Jan 1? Context is everything.
