Is non-distracted prayer (the whole mind, heart, and body turned to God) essential?
Does praying while driving, for example, suffice without any need for non-distracted prayer?

Well, if the only time you talk to your spouse is in the car on your way to work, will your relationship last if it hits a rough patch?
I know that it wouldnt work for me.
Dedicate time out of your day for focused, devout prayer- you will see benefits.

As one who prays a lot while driving, it is a better use of time than listening to garbage on the radio, and is better than no prayer at all if you have a busy day or a long drive. It also works better for some types of prayer than others. But it does not take the place of non-distracted prayer. I need to incorporate both kinds of prayer in my normal day.

Communication with God takes many forms, the important thing to do is to talk to Him and to listen.
