Is trying to be the “best you” to the point of being perfectionistic a sin?

That’s a very broad activity, being the “best you.”

Why is one doing it? For selfish reasons and gain? Then it could be an expression of sin.

Because of pathology? Illness is not a sin.

So you can serve better? Probably not.

Can you be more specific about the circumstances that are of interest? The term “perfectionist” in the question suggests an extreme in the behaviour, but when I flew for a living, I sure tried to be a perfectionist on the flight deck!

Blessings,

Gerry

Trying to excel in what you do is not a sin, but rather, becoming better in what you do.

However never lose sight of the fact that though you can always strive to become better, you are still, and will always be human, not God.
