I think my church has a very holy priest who is trying his best to provide different things to bring the people closer to God & Jesus. One of things he has done is provide Adoration before all Masses along with the Rosary, Divine Mercy and Confession. He has also opened an area in a room behind the Altar for Adoration. We are a small church and have a very small but loud group who oppose him on everything. One of the latest is the fact that he did not get permission from the Archbishop to have Adoration. Is this required? I would think a bishop would be very pleased that a priest would attempt to set up a small Adoration Chapel a few days a week. Also is there another name for Adoration because they don’t like the term Adoration? Thank you and God bless.

No, the pastor does not need permission from the Bishop to have adoration in his own parish before Mass. The only time that permission is required is for perpetual adoration.
