Is plastic surgery against our Catholic?

One of my Confirmation students asked me a question that I have researched but can not find an answer. The question is: What is the Catholic Church’s stance on plastic surgery esp. implants. I would appreciate help in finding an “answer”. Muchas Gracias y que dios los bendiga (may God bless you),
 
I can’t find anything in the Catechism on cosmetic surgery. However, considering that the Catholic Church teaches that we shouldn’t be so concerned about or outward appearance I don’t think they would be in favor of it. After all, God created you a certain way so why should we alter His design through potentially dangerous surgery?
 
I guess it depends on the purpose of the plastic surgery. If it’s to repair an injury due to an accident, or to fix a defect that can cause quality of life issues, I am sure there is no problem. However if it is just out of vanity and pride or even envy, then that would most likely be considered sinful.

I think if you are talking about breast implants then that would be immoral because it would be the sin of vanity. At least it would be the sin of vanity in most (if not all) cases. Other forms of plastic surgery would also be the sin of vanity unless you are getting it done to repair severe damage done to your body from something like a dog attack or cancer for example.
